LIQUIDATION ORDER

On October 31, 2013, San Antonio Indemnity Company (SAIC) was found to be insolvent and placed into liquidation proceedings by the 201st District Court of Travis County, Texas.  The liquidation will be administered by the Texas Department of Insurance through a Special Deputy Receiver (SDR).  The Texas Property and Casualty Insurance Guaranty Association (TPCIGA) has been triggered to handle Texas claims for certain policy losses of SAIC.

INSURANCE POLICY & COVERAGE INFORMATION

The SDR will send notice to SAIC policyholders advising of the termination of their policies.  Policyholders should immediately contact their insurance agent or broker in order to obtain replacement coverage effective no later than November 30, 2013.  The Texas Department of Insurance website offers an FAQ for consumers regarding policies and coverages.

NEW & PENDING LOSS CLAIMS INFORMATION

Policyholders should continue to notify SAIC of new claims and lawsuits by calling (877) 523-3977 or visiting the SDR's website at www.texassdr.com.  Spanish-speakers may report their new claims to TPCIGA and we will forward the information to the SDR.

The SDR will arrange for the transfer of loss claim files to TPCIGA for handling.  We ask that policyholders and claimants be patient during this transition period as we obtain and undertake our initial review of the files.  The TPCIGA will be unable to discuss the status of a pending claim until the file has been transferred and reviewed.

If you have a hardship claim or are in temporary housing due to a covered loss, please contact TPCIGA and we will try to expedite your inquiry.

UNEARNED PREMIUM

Claims for unearned premium will be processed as soon as possible after TPCIGA receives all necessary financial information from the SDR.  It is not necessary to file a claim for your unearned premium.

LAWSUITS & STAY OF LITIGATION

All lawsuits against SAIC are permanently stayed by the Liquidation Order.  In addition, the Texas Property and Casualty Insurance Guaranty Association Act provides for a six-month stay, or until April 30, 2014, of any lawsuit in which SAIC is obligated to defend a party.
